Reliance Jio offer news

Reliance Jio offer Will reduced From 31 Dec     Now Offer Valid Till Dec 3 2016.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries' welcome offer of free voice calls and data on its recently-launched Jio mobile phone services will be available till December 31 only for those users who will buy subscription by December 3.
India's richest man had stormed his way into the telecom sector last month announcing a Jio Welcome Offer beginning September 4.
The sector regulator Trai in an order said as per regulations the free services by Jio will be limited to 90 days, which ends on December 3.
"The revised offer of free services by Reliance Jio has been limited to 90 days i.e. December 3, 2016 and therefore is consistent with the guidelines on promotional offers," Trai said in an order.
When contacted, a Jio spokesperson said the Jio Welcome Offer or JWO "benefits of free unlimited Voice and data will be available to all subscribers up to December 31, 2016."
But, the "JWO will be available to new consumers for subscription till December 3, 2016," the spokesperson said.
He said consumers who have not subscribed for services till December 3 will be able to subscribe to new offers as well as tariff plans that are available from Jio.
"Jio will continue offering consumer friendly plans to enhance Data and voice experience of all consumers," he added.
They had also complained that given the free data offer, a "tsunami" of "asymmetric" traffic originating from Reliance Jio network was coming to their networks, leading to an increased number of call drops.
However, the regulator said the submissions made have been examined and "it is found that the tariff plans filed with Trai cannot be considered as IUC non-complaint, predatory and discriminatory, at present".
It added that the Authority would continue to keep a close watch on the tariffs being offered in the market by all players, including Reliance Jio.

Jio’s free voice offer valid only till Dec 3: Trai

New Delhi: Reliance Jio's free voice call offer is limited only till December 3, says Trai. The telecom regulator has maintained that promotional offers cannot exceed a period of 90 days.

Trai made this observation following a representation by incumbent telecom operators against Jio's promotional offer of free voice, which they alleged was violating the regulator's tariff order.

In its observation, which was intimated to Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular, Telenor India and Videocon Telecom, Trai said, "The revised offer of free services by Jio has been limited to 90 days i.e. up to December 3, 2016, and, therefore, is consistent with the guidelines on promotional offers."

Sources in Trai told TOI that the tariff plan filed with the regulator does not make any mention of free voice calls for life-time. In fact, Jio's tariff plan mentions 2 paise per second charge for voice calls. "Thus we have no reason but to treat the free voice announcement as a promotional offer. This offer cannot run beyond 90 days," a source said.

Thai also clarified that Jio's offer cannot be treated as predatory or in contravention of the regulations. "The tariff plans offered by Jio and the various submissions made thereafter have been examined and it is found that the plans filed with Trai cannot be considered as inter-connect usage charge non-compliant, predatory and discriminatory at present."

Reliance Jio maintained that voice call on its network will remain free for life-time even though the 'welcome offer' ends on December 3. "Jio has received communication from Trai stating that the tariff plans offered by it are fully compliant with regulatory norms of IUC compliance, non-predatory and non-discriminatory. This establishes the fact that all tariffs offered by Jio are in compliance with prevailing regulations," the company said in a statement, adding, "a key feature of Jio's tariff packs is free voice calling for local, STD and national roaming for all times."

The company said the welcome offer will be available for subscription till December 3. "Jio wishes to reconfirm that welcome offer benefits of free unlimited voice and data will continue to be available to all subscribers till December 31."
